Spiny Oyster Shells are harvested in the Gulf Of California and on the east coast of the US. Spiny Oyster Shells are very difficult to harvest, however, the orange toned shells are the easiest to harvest due to the shallower depths where they are found. The shell is also found in colors of purple, red, and yellow. The shells carry the wisdom of the sea and encourage a sense of understanding and patience. It also offers comfort and peace of mind from the depths of the ocean. Lapis Lazuli is in northeastern Afghanistan, where the stone has been worked for more than 6,000 years. It is also found in the Andes, Argentina, Pakistan, Russia, Canada, and in the USA in California and Colorado. Lapis lazuli is considered a stone of truth and friendship. It is reputed to promote harmony in relationships. An ancient cure for eye problems was to place a piece of lapis into a bowl of water, and leave it under the night sky for a few minutes. The eye was then washed with the water. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is mined in Globe, Arizona. Originally, the mine was producing copper and gold, however, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise has been mined there since. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise is known for how few inclusions it has. The stone has a "pure" color. The color of Turquoise is determined by the mineral oxidation. The more iron, the bluer the Turquoise, and the more copper the stone contains, the greener the appearance. Boulder Turquoise, also known as "Royston Turquoise" comes from just outside of Tonopah, NV. It is said that the stone was discovered in 1902 and is the oldest patented mine in Nevada. The stone also contains an infinite amount of patterns, colors, and shapes. The colors in this stone are what make it so unique. When you see Boulder Turquoise that has a blue/green line running through it from top to bottom, it is said to be "Thunder And Lightening". It is named for the vivid color striking through the stone like a bolt of lightening. Charoite, pronounced Shar-oh-ite, was discovered in 1978 in the Murun Mountains in the Arctic. It was found near the Charo River, which is what its name derives from. It is said that Charoite enhances creativity, improves inner strength and courage, increases self esteem, accelerates spiritual growth, and improves the ability to love. Physically, Charoite is thought to assist in the speeding up of healing, reduce headaches, and other ailments.
