This ring is made of .925 Sterling Silver and on the back you can see the artist's stamp, as well as a "Sterling" stamp. Native American rings carry many different meanings. A ring can be used to show status, affiliation, currency, spiritual beliefs, and even wedding bands. Each tribe has its own style and artistry, blending traditional and contemporary designs, the most famous styles being Navajo, Zuni and Hopi. You can find designs with one or more ornamental stones. The most popular stone being Turquoise, as it comes mainly from the Southwestern United States and that is where the Navajo tribe is located. Zuni artists are known for their needlepoint artistry and their use of Turquoise, Coral, Onyx and Mother of Pearl incorporated designs. Hopi designs incorporate overlay artwork, where a silversmith uses two pieces of silver, one as the base, and one with cut out patterns and depictions.
