Boulder Turquoise, also known as "Royston Turquoise" comes from just outside of Tonopah, NV. It is said that the stone was discovered in 1902 and is the oldest patented mine in Nevada. The original four claims are known as Bunker Hill, Easter Blue, Oscar Wehrend, and the main producer is Royal Blue. Lynn Otteson moved to Tonopah to mine Boulder "Royston" Turquoise in 1958 and the family has been mining Boulder Turquoise ever since. Emerald greens and baby blue hues run together with sandy tan and deep brown rock, which creates a visually stunning palate.

The stone also contains an infinite amount of patterns and shapes. These shapes can be spotted or polka dotted, straight or wavy, or even a combination.  The colors in this stone are what make it so unique. The hardness of Royston Turquoise ranges from 5-6 on the Mohs scale. When you see Boulder Turquoise that has a blue/green line running through it from top to bottom, it is said to be "Thunder And Lightening".

It is named for the vivid color striking through the stone like a bolt of lightening.
